Pinia Forest: Between forest, sea and lagoon Themes: Water Trail & Educational Ecosystem Forest, lake and marine habitats are precious refuges for numerous birds which find in Pinia a place to nest, winter or simply stop over.

From the RT10, south of Ghisonaccia, take the D 144 out of the village to Perla di mare. Take the back road towards the pond of Urbinu and stop at the first parking lot. From here you will take the Pinia path for a walk of about 9km in this forest massif owned by the Conservatoire du littoral. Several sequences will be offered to you:

- From the start to the Piobi marshes: A walk on the top of the alluvial cliff allowing you to pass through the forest and to have different points of view on the coastline but also on the wetlands and in particular the Cattolica marshes. In the heart of the pine forest, you may be lucky enough to spot the European sparrowhawk.

- From Piobi to the Balcon d'Urbinu: We descend from this cliff to walk a little further along the sea and especially along the wetlands such as Pozzo Sale, while beginning to contemplate the Urbinu pond and its ancient mouth. The stopping point is the viewpoint of the Urbinu lake, a real balcony with a breathtaking view of the lake, the plain and the mountain range.

- From the Urbinu balcony to the starting point: The return path winds through the maritime pines behind the site before reaching the Cattolica marsh and the starting point.

The Pinia site, owned by the Conservatoire du littoral, is classified as a Natura 2000 zone and covers more than 380ha. There is also a coastal path that leads to the beach and along the coast: the Sicilian lizard lives on the dune and the back dune, which is dotted with large juniper trees.
