If the exterior is a bit ordinary, the interior is a must-see, as it is one of the most beautiful pictorial achievements on the island, with its neo-Byzantine frescoes, executed in the art and spirit of icons. These remarkable works were created by a Greek artist Nikos N. Giannakakis, the official painter of the Patriarch of Constantinople and resident in Crete. This painter completed his work between 1980 and 1985. The richness of the colours, the perfection of the graphics and the power of invention make the sight of this fresco, representing the main scenes of the Gospel, a moment of intense emotion.
