It is not possible to give the exact date of construction of this church. However, we can affirm that it has existed since the 17th century. In fact, the pastoral visits of Monsignor Mascardi in 1587 did not mention the village of Solaro, but it was mentioned a little later in 1686 during the visit of Monsignor Spinola. His report mentions that Solaro (Solari) had 400 souls and the income of the Church of San Giovanni Baptista (the present church) was 400 pounds. Although the church is dedicated to Saint John the Baptist, it is Saint Augustine's Day, on 28th August, which is the traditional feast of the village of SOLARO, and which closes the summer festivals of the micro-region.
