THE POZZI SHEPHERD'S HUT

The pozzines (from the Corsican «Pozzi’ for a well) are formed of acidic peat grasslands criss-crossed by winding streams. They are located at altitudes of between 1700 and 2300 metres. They are a favourite grazing area for sheep.

ITINERARY: From Ghisonaccia, at the crossroad in the centre of the village, Take the D344 in direction of Ghisoni

Follow the direction of Col De Verde (the green pass) as written on the sign,continue driving for 18kms on the D69.When you reach the pass use the big carpark on the right hand side. After passing the lodge, walk another 500m then leave the track following the red and white trail markers of the GR20 up into the forest of Marmanu, that you will leave after 3km crossing a footbridge over the river and continue to ascend the switchback trail up to the plateau.. Then take the trail to the left that leads you to the sheepherds. From here, continue on for a few hundred metres to reach the Pozzi plateau, a marvellous gift of nature.
