GHISONACCIA-AJACCIO : ‘MARE A MARE CENTER’

he Mare a Mare hike will take you through the heart of Corsica in eight days from coast to coast: East to west from Ghisonaccia to Porticcio.
From Ghisonaccia: Direction Solenzara RN 198. Immediately after the Abatescu bridge, take a small path to the right indicated by the Mare a Mare sign.

Abatesco bridge-Serra di Fium’Orbu: 3h

After 30 mn you will reach the hamlet of Asprivu. Cross the old rail line close to Aquacitosa. The trail then turns to the North-West towards an oak grove. After approximately 1h30 of walking you reach the East entrance of Serra di Fium’Orbu. Here, you can enjoy your first stopover at the guest house located on the road leading to the village.

Serra di Fium’Orbu - Catastaghju (approximately 4h)
Take the trail towards Ventiseri and walk for 300 m. On the right, follow the trail that climbs for 2 km. Go towards Quarciu-Grossu. The contour line changes and a downhill slope takes you to Bocca Minaguli. Conti nue north-west to Bocca di Ghjuvà.

Descend towards the village of Ania and walk towards Punta di Cervu. At the crossing, take the trail towards Catastaghju and descend along the contour line under the green oaks. The rest house is on the other side of the river.

Catastaghju – Col de Laparo. (2h15) (523 m)
The trail is in a pine forest. Cross the brook to reach the Scanciatella sheep pens. Another three brooks and a cedar forest take you to the Col de Laparo (1525 m).
