ETANG DE PALU : A meeting between two universes Themes: Water trail & Educational ecosystem In the south of a chain of wetlands that stretches from the Fiumorbu to the Travu, the pond of Palu is a vast sedimentary lagoon of 110 acres. It is the fourth largest pond on the island and has retained its natural character since its origins. Palu is home for one of the largest groups of sansouires* in Corsica, with a surface area of over forty acres

The pond of Palu is accessible in all seasons and offers the possibility of a short family walk. It sits between two communes: Ventiseri and Serra.
Itinerary by car: Head south (RT 10) towards Porto Vecchio, drive about 6 kilometres after leaving Ghisonaccia. You must be careful not to miss the left-hand fork in the road at the exit of Vix, as there is nothing to indicate this except two small signs on the ground. As soon as you have turned off, you can park your vehicle in the car park at the top of the RT 10.
This is where your walk begins. A dirt road leads to the pond, which is only a few minutes walk away. Nearby you will also reach the start of a small path in the undergrowth which runs along the banks of the pond. Hidden in the vegetation you can easily observe the many species of water birds that pass through or reside on the site. The walk does not exceed one hour unless you allow yourself to contemplate the aerial ballets of purple herons or other species. This small path leads to the artisanal installations of the only active fisherman on the pond. If you take the dirt road to the car park, you will see another path on your left, where you will find an observation site from which you can admire the southern part of the pond. Who knows, you might even get the chance to see some pink flamingos!
