A CROCE À A SARRA: learn about botany and explore the wonders of biodiversity on the heights of Ghisoni Theme: botanical trail

Departure : Leave the village of Ghisoni in the direction of the RD344 to go to the bridge over the Regolu. Looking down, you can admire the old flour mill for a moment, then go up towards the village. A small, half-shaded track starts on the right after passing the first buildings.

Start the path along the river, in the middle of the vegetable gardens delimited by low stone walls. A gentle gravel slope leads to the Genoese bridge of Catani. Go past the ruins and follow the road as it bends to the right. Enter the woods guarded by a huge hollow tree.

Cross the river and continue under the laricio pines to the rocky path that crosses the chestnut grove. After crossing Croce à a Sarra (the cross pass), leave behind the old path to the hamlet of Galgacciu to follow a wide forest track that opens up under the pines on the right.

At "the Punta", amidst fields of eagle ferns, ferns and asphodel, views open up over the surrounding mountains and the sea. The Kyrie dominates the rest of the path, which narrows in the sun. The village of Ghisoni can be seen below.

Join the main road by a rocky descent and go up to the village entrance sign. Take the passage towards the church by the Genoese bridge (small path on the left beneath), or continue along the road and the bridge that overhangs the mill.
